About the Blog:
As of February 2011, this blog has a new name and focus. The blog is highly personal, but I aspire to include elements of the universal in every post. I would love to have your comments on the reflections I share here.

Through January 2011, the blog was titled “Quotesqueen’s Weblog.” Over many years, I have collected, and continue to collect, quotations that speak to me.  I began this blog in August of 2007 to share them and also to have a writing (and feeling and thinking) practice. (Oh, btw, I feel the need to say that “quotesqueen” was chosen solely for its alliterative property, and not to say anything about my humility or lack thereof. 🙂  For a full appreciation of the irony of this statement, see my post on What Others Think).

About Me:
Married (to the same man!) 37 years and have lived in the mountains of north Georgia for the last 19 years. I grew up near the beach, so I sometimes crave the wide expanse and rolling waves of the sea.

Favorite poets: David Whyte, Mary Oliver, Wendell Berry, Billy Collins. (Suggest others!) Nonfiction reading includes books on writing and creativity (see Writers on Writing for some of my favorite titles), Buddhism and mindfulness, creative essays, memoirs, and whatever subject has captured my imagination at the moment.

I love “Americana” music and some country, rock and folk (some favorite artists are Iris DeMent, Willie Nile, Emmylou Harris, John Prine, Lucinda Williams, Jimmy Dale Gilmore, Kelly Willis, Bap Kennedy, Delbert McClinton, and of course Van Morrison and Bob Dylan.)  Thanks to Sam for reading about, listening to, and exposing me to these and other great artists.

I have been a librarian for 30 years and have recently retired.
